Safety tips
Most people on Manmel are here for the same reason you are. Still, meeting someone new deserves care. These simple habits keep you safe, online and in person.
The golden rule: never send money, gifts, OTPs or bank details to someone you met online, however genuine their story sounds. Manmel will never ask for your OTP or password.
Chatting online
- Keep chats on Manmel until you trust someone. Scammers often rush to move you to WhatsApp or another app.
- Protect your details. Don't share your home address, workplace, family members' numbers, or ID documents early on.
- Take it slow. Be careful with anyone who declares strong feelings very quickly, avoids video calls, or always has an excuse not to meet.
- Look for the verified badge, and do a video call before you meet. It's the easiest way to confirm someone is real.
- Watch for money stories: medical emergencies, customs fees, stuck visas, investment "opportunities" or crypto tips are common scams.
- Think before sharing photos. Never send private or intimate photos; they can be misused.
Meeting in person
- Meet in a busy public place, like a café, mall or restaurant, for the first few meetings. Never at a home or hotel.
- Tell a family member or friend where you're going, who you're meeting and when you'll be back. Share your live location.
- Travel on your own there and back, so you can leave whenever you want.
- Stay alert. Keep an eye on your drink and belongings, and keep your phone charged.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, you can leave. You don't owe anyone an explanation.
Involving family
- It's fine to involve your family early. A genuine match will respect that.
- Before any commitment, families should verify details like work, education and background independently.
- Be wary of anyone who asks you to keep the relationship secret from your family.
Report and block
If someone makes you uncomfortable, asks for money, pretends to be someone else or behaves badly, use Report and Block on their profile or chat in the app. Our team reviews every report and removes people who break our rules. They won't be told who reported them.
